46TH ANNUAL ISNA CONVENTION, 2009 PARALLEL SESSION TURKISH-AMERICAN MUSLIMS (TAM)- STATUS, INTEGRATION AND FUTURE July 3-6, 2009 Washington DC Convention Center 801 Mount Vernon Place NW Washington, DC 20001 In these turbulent times, Turkish American Muslims are faced with a wide variety of challenges including supporting their families, raising their kids, meeting financial and spiritual challenges while providing their kids with the best education possible, and creating an environment that promotes good manners and friendship. While we strive to address these challenges we must understand that we do not live in isolation. Thus, we must constantly endeavor to form an alliance with the main stream Muslim communities to maximize our accomplishments. We see the convention and the parallel session as a catalyst promoting friendship, integration, and collaboration with main stream Muslim Societies. This coming July, 2009, be part of an exceptional community, gain insights from community leaders, and enjoy friendships. The parallel session theme is "Turkish-American Muslims (TAM): Status, Integration and Future”. The goal of this parallel session is to provide the participants with an integrated analysis of the condition of the Turkish American Muslims. It will feature representatives from various communities who will explore the realities of being a Turkish American Muslim in ever-changing environments. Pragmatic perspectives will be offered by some prominent names to the participants. Please join us in supporting the ISNA 2009 Convention and the parallel session so we may all better learn how to transform ourselves into better individuals. The convention and the parallel session will advance and promote the exchange of best ideas and lessons learned in addressing the issues and challenges associated with Turkish American Muslims.
